Rogue Bakery Says…

There’s nothing like a large, custom order

May 19th, 2011

A year ago (actually, one year and 4 days ago), Rogue Bakery made it’s first delivery. Basically, a couple people ordered. I was pretty nervous, because let’s face it, someone ordering things from you that they’ve never had before can be kinda scary, for both the people receiving the items, and the person making them. But all went well, I suppose (I mean, if it didn’t, you wouldn’t be reading this, now would you? ;)

A couple weeks passed, and to be honest, I wasn’t sure if I wanted to deliver again right away. Then I got an @-reply on Twitter, followed by an email. Someone wanted to know if Rogue Bakery could do custom Shapeshifter cutout cookies. Of course, right? You know, maybe someone wants cookies shaped like baseballs, or something simple like that. Nope. They wanted “snarky, sassy” cookies for a party, in four specific shapes: a pea coat, a 4-post bed, a pair of denim shorts, and a can of Ranier beer. Read the rest of this entry »

One Year of Cookies: Happy Anniversary, Rogue Bakery!

May 13th, 2011

On Sunday, May 15th, it will be exactly one year since the very first baked good delivery in Columbus by Rogue Bakery. Notice that I said “baked good”; the very first deliveries weren’t even cookies. Well, that’s not 100% true; cookies were included. But the main baked good for the delivery beta test was cinnamon rolls. I know, sounds weird, eh? It’s true, read the blog post announcing the “beta test” delivery. And it went from that strange one-off cinnamon rolls delivery to a few people, to cookie deliveries every few weeks, to random nighttime cookie deliveries, to the weekly deliveries that we have today. It’s been quite a trip (without it’s…err…hiccups). Of course, I have all of you to thank, for basically placing your bets on a cookie you’ve never tried before, brought to you in a way that’s non-conventional for bakery.

Yay! It’s May, the month of big stuff!

May 5th, 2011

Howdy!

I know, this doesn’t look like a facebook page at all, does it? Nope, it’s big stuff #1, the Rogue Bakery website! So, here it is. Don’t worry, more stuff will be updated here soon. Also, please excuse me if links don’t work and things. This site is just a baby! It’ll spit up from time to time, possibly poop it’s pants, and sometimes do cool things. And that baby daddy is my colleague and good friend Zheng. He’s a jack of all trades…well, a Zheng of all trades, I should say. Artist, illustrator, product designer, web designer, coder, Dungeons & Dragons player, he does it all, and much much more. Please check out his site! But don’t ask him about his baby mama. It’s a touchy subject.

Next up, there’s a new item in the store: The Four Four Four Dozen. No, it’s not four dozen cookies (that’s a lot of cookies). Instead, you get a choice of 4 different cookies in a dozen. Read all about it here. And it’s perfect for Mother’s Day…? Yes, that’s on Sunday, in case you forgot. The Columbus delivery date for this week is Saturday, May 7th, which gives you plenty of time to get a dozen to give to mom on Sunday. And if you’re doing that, I’ll even include a fun card in the bag for mom.

So why all the big changes here? You may not realize this, but it was about a year ago this month that Rogue Bakery started delivering deliciousness. I can’t believe it. It’s already been a year?? And I don’t know how many of you even followed Rogue Bakery back then, but the first delivery of tasty treats wasn’t even cookies. [Maybe for those that remember what it was, I'll give them a free dozen…yeah, you should do that. The first two people who email me at roguebakery @ gmail.com and tell me what the first deliveries were, you'll receive a free Four Four Four dozen of the three most popular cookies. Sorry, contest over. Answer? Cinnamon Rolls. I know, right?] And now, cookies are available at your door every week. And we’re working on getting them in more places, too. More on that in another post. And also stay tuned for more Rogue Bakery stuff, in this “1 year of delivery” celebration all this month!
